TICKLED PINK BY CYBERHOIST
STAR RIGGING & FLASHLIGHT RENTAL COLLABORATE FOR BREAST CANCER FUND-RAISER AT ROYAL ALBERT HALL
Star Rigging provided all rigging services at the ASDA Tickled Pink Girls Night For Breast Cancer Care fund-raising concert at the Royal Albert Hall last month. The company co-operated with Netherlands' Flashlight Rental who supplied the sophisticated CyberHoist/InMotion 3D motion control system, to enable the movement of the screens as an essential set element of this show.
Geri Halliwell (right), patron of Breast Cancer Care, hosted and performed in the concert, televised on Channel Five, which featured sets by artists including Jools Holland with Tom Jones, Ronan Keating, Natasha Bedingfield, Lemar, Rachel Stevens and comics Alastair MacGowan and Nina Conti.
Production manager Phil Christensen assembled a trusted team of professional suppliers that incorporated Star Rigging's Phil Broad planning the rigging and drawing up the rigging plans to fly eight XL Video screens, Canegreen's PA and the set.
The CyberHoist/InMotion system facilitated the fast movement of seven of these screens on the stage to allow the rapid changeovers required to keep the show flowing smoothly. There were three moving portrait screens either side of the stage and a MiPix screen which was used as a reveal and could be raised to a height of five metres in 15 seconds by the CyberHoist/InMotion system. This was an essential component in maintaining the fast moving pace of the multi-artist show, as it enabled the large rolling riser used for set changes to be moved on and off quickly.
Broad oversaw the proceedings from a good vantage point, to ensure the safe and rapid movement of the screens. He commented: "Working with Steve Jones (stage manager) and Spike Alibone (show caller) meant we had two of the best in the business to keep things tight. With Phil Christensen running the production it's all been calm and professional throughout despite a tight schedule."
Star Rigging also supplied motor hoists, truss and a team of eight riggers to ensure the large set and technical production behind the Tickled Pink concert was rigged safely and on schedule.
