NOT SO LOST
The Lostprophets closed 2004 with a Kerrang magazine award for their Hammersmith Apollo show, and SSE's XTA SiDDs successfully helped vocalists Ian Watkins and Jamie Oliver rise above the noise of their manic fans.
FOH engineer Alan 'Doof' McCann commented: "The beauty of the XTA gear is that once it's set you don't even know it's there. The last thing I want while I'm mixing is to be thinking about my processing and with XTA I never have to."
The band's monitor engineer, Dave Belis chose five GQ600 graphics for his 10 monitor mix sends. SSE originally invested in three SiDDs for use on in-ear monitoring, but the units have also been used for front-end system control, proving their versatility.
"I run the SiDDs stereo-linked, so I can have the same processing on both the main and back-up mics," added McCann. "The Dynamic EQ section is what I was really after - now I can pick out a frequency that needs a little more processing at certain times. Plus, I've used the delay on the front end to move things around. They sound great and once I have them set, they just get on with it invisibly!"
