SSE Hire threw an impressive party at its Redditch headquarters in December to jointly celebrate the 50th birthdays of directors John and Heather Penn, and Chris Beale. Attended by hundreds of industry guests, friends and family, the party was held in the main warehouse and featured live music from local students and a disco-funk band populated by members of the SSE team.

As Medusa Pyro lit the night sky with a stunning firework display, it was announced at the party that after many years of loyal service, director Emma Barwell was leaving SSE to start a new career in corporate event production, and she has since been replaced by Richie Rowley, formerly of BSS Audio

John Penn commented on the event: "Heather, Chris and I can now take advantage of SAGA holidays, cheaper insurance and we've only 50 more years to go till we get a telegram from the Palace! The party was a night to remember for the rest of our lives. Our guests made a huge effort to come from far and wide to help us celebrate and we were thrilled to have shared the night with so many friends. We have to say thanks to the staff and crew for producing the 'gig' and to the bands who provided such great entertainment."
