Bose open third phase of European distribution centre
Phase 3 was designed by Aiko Architects in Maldegem (Belgium), and constructed by Cordeel from Hoeselt. The new section covers some 7,800 square metres of storage space and 1,100 square metres of offices, and is located next to the existing complex, which was begun in 1996. With a total surface area of 16,900 square metres, and making use of advanced logistical processes, Bose's European Distribution Centre can now distribute high-quality sound systems even more quickly and efficiently. The recent expansion means that Bose has invested a total of 12 million Euros in the Tongeren facility. "All over Europe consumers are aware of the technical progress being made by Bose in the area of sound quality for both private and professional applications," says Nic Merks. "Our market share has increased considerably in recent years. This new building will grow in step with the increasing demand for Bose products and will be the home base for a number of new European functions. We anticipate that the number of people employed at Bose will double to 80 in the coming years." The European Distribution Centre handles the storage and distribution of Bose products for the whole of Western Europe, including shipments to importers in Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
