Messe Frankfurt pull out of St Petersburg...and form 'strategic alliance' with LDI
The organisers of the Musikmesse / Prolight+Sound St. Petersburg exhibition have announced that future events will be organised solely by Messe Frankfurt's Russian partner, Lenexpo. Although last year's event attracted some 300 exhibitors and 8,000 visitors to St. Petersburg, results showed that the expectations of Messe Frankfurt in terms of event growth and profitability were unlikely to be fulfilled in the medium term. Commenting on the decision, Udo Schurtzmann, Deputy General Director of Messe Frankfurt RUS, said: "Musikmesse / Prolight+Sound St. Petersburg reached a considerable number of market participants and generated important impulses for the conclusion of business transactions between foreign manufacturers and companies in Russia. We are delighted that the fair is to be continued under the management of Lenexpo, our partner of many years." Musikmesse / Prolight+Sound St. Petersburg will be organised and held by the Russian Lenexpo company in St. Petersburg at the planned time of 16 to 19 June 2005.

Meanwhile, Messe Frankfurt and Primedia, producers of the LDI exhibition, have announced a strategic alliance. "This alliance will make it easier for the industry to expand into new markets, meet additional buyers and specifers, identify new technologies and learn how to succeed in overseas markets," reveals a statement issued jointly on behalf of the two organisations. "This allows our attendees and exhibitors to take advantage of a wide range of sales and marketing objectives without increasing the number of shows. The initial result of this agreement will include combined marketing efforts designed to help promote each group's events, with more concrete synergies as the relationship grows."
