W-DMX by Wireless Solutions AB in Sweden is a unique, new product for wireless control of DMX 512 signals. For the first time there is a small and lightweight product on the market with a price that makes cables unnecessary.
Developed by a radio specialist and real time programmer from a world famous GSM manufacturer together with lighting designers, the W-DMX system offers wireless DMX without interference problems. This gives rental and installation companies new opportunities for event and architectural lighting.
W-DMX is based on the philosophy of GSM technology by using the same Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). This system was first used by the U.S. military and is now also used by all GSM mobile phones. In the W-DMX system you can also include your own encryption and with this the receiver only listens to its master sender, thus guranteeing no interferance.
By using this system the DMX signal can be sent totally wireless with standard antenna up to 5,000 metres without interference. W-DMX is the first system for wireless DMX 512 that consists of multicast; by using W-DMX each fixture can have its own receiver and the system can handle up to 16 DMX 512 universes making a total of 8,192 DMX Channels.
