| Lighting Review - Taipei |
This signature building in downtown Taipei was designed to incorporate a dynamic night lighting system. TIR's Destiny CW was selected to illuminate the two hundred and twenty architectural light boxes integrated into the glass exterior facade of the 16-storey building. During the day the windows are transparent until dusk when automated screens drop down, creating reflective surfaces that transform the windows into light boxes. Three Destiny CW luminaires are used to wash the interior of each light box with even colour changing light, turning each window into a giant pixel of coloured light. The 220 colour changing pixels are each individually programmed to be part of a nightly show on the exterior facade of the building. The show is created through a programmable DMX control system that sends instructions to the red, green and blue LEDs through the onboard controller in each Destiny CW unit. The end result is a colourful and dramatic architectural billboard, smartly integrated into the architecture of the Kuo Hua Life Insurance Building.
